A Few FAQ's about Ozone

Excerpt from the Bangkok Post Newspaper, AUGUST 2005: “…World Health Organization’s Mr. Krzyzanowski said fine particles are a major contributor to respiratory problems, especially in children, the elderly and people with existing illnesses. He said more cases may be reported during the smoggy period but day-to-day pollution is a far larger concern.”

1. IS OZONE SAFE?
YES...if the Hi-Powered Ozone Treatment is conducted in an UNOCCUPIED area. Constant exposure to Ozone above OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Agency) prescribed levels of .08ppm (Parts Per Million) can cause effects such as headaches, sore throats, irritation to eyes and nausea. These are not a problem with our Hi-Powered Ozone Treatments!

2. WILL ODORS RETURN AFTER THE TREATMENTS?

NO not if the treatment is of a level high enough to destroy the source of the initial problem. In the case of Mold and Mildew pollutants, the odor will return if the source of the moisture that has esulted in the Mold/Mildew is not dealt with.

3. HOW LONG DOES OZONE LAST?
As soon as the Ozone is generated it will be reverting back to Oxygen. However, the Ozone will be breaking down quicker as it oxidizes the bacteria, viral organisms and odor-producing by-products. Once the offensive pollutants have been destroyed – and there is nothing for Ozone to react with - the Ozone surplus will naturally disperse rapidly owing to its very short half-life. Either way…our trained technicians will not allow entry to an area until the Ozone has dissipated.

4. WHAT IF SOMEONE ACCIDENTALLY ENTERS AN AREA WHILE THE OZONE IS AT HIGH LEVELS?
There is an instant and recognizable warning that there is a high level of Ozone present – a strong ‘electrical’ type smell such as that given off by a photocopier. Should an individual begin to experience irritation of eyes and nose, or begin to feel nauseous, these symptoms quickly disappear after leaving the High-Ozone area and returning to normal air conditions.

5. ARE THERE OTHER PRODUCTS/MACHINES ON THE MARKET?
Yes…there are many companies offering a ‘healthy air environment’ and to ‘rid your home of harmful pollutants’ while you are in the same room. What these companies fail to mention is NO OZONE-PRODUCING DEVICE that is designed for use whilst human beings are present has anywhere near enough power to supply our advertised benefits! In addition to the erroneous claims of these lowlevel output machines, research has shown a high prevalence of eye, nose and throat irritation experienced by individuals being exposed to these machines constantly. 6. HOW DOES OZONE HANDLE CIGARETTE SMOKE?

It eliminates the irritation caused by the invisible phenol gases given off by cigarettes. The third molecule of Ozone quickly identifies the Phenol gas and goes to work oxidizing – killing – it on contact!

7. WHAT DOES OZONE KILL?
The list is too long to display here, but examples of common organisms oxidized by Ozone are as follows: SARS virus, Herpes virus, Diphtheria, Cholera, Anthrax, Enterovirus, Streptococcus Bacteria and Pseudomonas (the causers of some skin complaints). In addition to airborne and surface dwelling pathogens listed above, Ozone will destroy the food source of the common dust-mite. This is especially important when contemplating sleeping in a bed in the company of over 2,000,000 of these allergycausing arthropods!

8. WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE OZONE OVER OTHER TRADITIONAL CLEANING/DISINFECTING METHODS?
Ozone is scientifically proven to be one of the most effective disinfectant and de-odorizing methods known to man! Yes, there are other chemical products that have been traditionally used to temporarily eradicate and mask odors and bacterial problems, but NOTHING comes close to Ozone’s capability to destroy a complicated mix of bacterial, chemical, viral and otherwise problematic pollutants! In addition to the inferior capabilities of chemical products, there is the obvious inherent problem of replacing one biological irritant (the thing you want to kill) with a man made irritant (the chemical used to kill the thing you want dead)!
